A Chateau Rhianfa Elopement

We’re late December for this Chateau Rhianfa elopement and the ceremony is at 3pm.

Why do I mention this?

It’s all about light. At this time of year sunset is as early as 4pm. We were extremely lucky on this occasion, the dipping sun had clarity and for the most part, whilst it was with us it offered lovely light.

Reaching for that light

Thankfully at Chateau Rhianfa, the ceremony room used for small weddings has a beautifully large window and you face it, looking out across The Straits towards the mountains. You’re lit and the light falling on you is lovely. There’s no need for any supplementary light.  When we come away from that light source I may need to add light and I did on this occasion.

What does this mean?

If you’ve chosen to be married in winter and the sun has dipped and you’d rather stay indoors you will need to bit lit by an extra light source.  If I didn’t do this your wedding pics would be blah, sorry, that’s flippant of me but I am your technician and I feel this is the best way to achieve a professional result. What does this mean?  This means that you will have to stay in a pose until I’ve achieved this. So what? The results will be different to those taken outdoors where its possible for you to walk briskly, chatting, hugging and laughing.  I say this because today’s imagery is so natural and I do aim to take photographs that look as though a paparazzi has taken them. If I use a supplememtary light source this is not possible. In Winter I do suggest a ‘first look’ if your ceremony is later on in the day that way you can take advantage of the natural light outdoors. On saying all of that I love the results above.

A little footnote. I’ve changed the layout of of my gallery so I could display some portrait format images. The result is that the gallery appears out of order. Folk, technology can be soooo exhausting and so I’ve walked away from this glitch until I can muster the patience to alter this, sorry about that.
